The Microtest spindle measuring system located in the measuring axis permits the measuring range to be several times greater with increased precision.

The Microtest system implements the Abbe principle of measurement.

The measuring spindle, which is positioned above, moves the cone by means of a shaft, and the cone presses on the caliper. A compromise must be found between accuracy and measuring range.

The surface contact on the threaded spindle is permanent and evenly distributed over the full measuring range, leading to about 100x less wear.

The linear support causes heavy wear, distributed unevenly over the measuring range.

After 1000 measurements at the same location:
Low levels of wear evenly distributed over the entire range, but almost undetectable due to thread flank support. Linear compensation possible through routine adjustment!

Heavy wear, non-linear, only partially due to linear support of cone.
Compensation impossible!

2 to 6x greater measuring range; increased precision through direct measure execution.
The measurement is transferred to the measuring axis according to Abbe's principle.
